Touch Football has been prominent in the minds of the students over the past week, with three teams travelling to separate competitions across the state. On Saturday, a mixed team travelled to Bendigo to participate in the open-age Goldfields Cup, competing against Bendigo and Ballarat teams containing state and national representative players. The students held their own and impressed the other associates with their determination and running play through the midfield.
Tuesday 26 March saw 23 bleary-eyed students board the bus at 4:45am to travel to Melbourne, representing HTLC as the first ever boys and girls interschool teams. The State Schools Cup featured quality teams from Melbourne and around the state and provided a fantastic learning opportunity for our students. Despite our efforts and training, the city schools proved to have an extra gear that we couldn’t match. The students were praised by the tournament organisers for their resilience, skill and quickness through the midfield, as well as for their improvement over the past six months. We were also fortunate enough to receive a special clinic from an Australian international player and state representative coach. As a college, we are incredibly proud of what our students have achieved in such a short period of time, and are pleased to hear of students planning to enter teams in the Horsham Touch competition when it returns in October.
