Pastoral Care in the Middle School

Holy Trinity Lutheran College is committed to enhancing and strengthening the social, emotional and spiritual development of all students. We recognise that wellbeing is fundamental to learning, and is integral in every aspect of school culture. We seek to ensure students are actively engaged with learning and develop positive and respectful relationships and connections within the school and community. A Christ-centred approach underpins the foundational values which the Pastoral Care program is based on. We are committed to providing a child-safe environment where children and young people are protected and feel safe.

Developing a nurturing and supportive environment that meets the needs of your child is central to our learning philosophy at Holy Trinity. At all times we aim to genuinely understand the world that our adolescents are experiencing and help them navigate this world with compassion and empathy. It is often a confusing time. That is why we are committed to developing real and purposeful connections with both you and your child during this journey, through:

  • pastoral care
  • the School Counsellor
  • the School Pastor
  • worship.

Pastoral care

Each student has a home room teacher who is the primary point of contact between home and school. Students will meet daily in their home room classes. Each week, time has been allocated specifically to Pastoral Care lessons, during which time a range of relevant pastoral issues will be addressed to support students through a smooth academic journey. An outline of what is covered at each level can be found in the following table:
