Principal's Message
As we approach the final stretch of Term 1, there continue to be so many highlights each week. On Tuesday, our Foundation to Year 2 students had their Athletics Carnival and yesterday, our Years 3 to 6 students had their Athletics Carnival. Thank you to all of the staff and volunteers involved in planning and supporting the day, the students for competing, and to you as parents, grandparents and the wider community for coming along to support, encourage and contribute to the excitement! Congratulations to Mallee house for its win! On Tuesday next week, our Secondary Athletics Carnival will take place!
NAPLAN testing has also continued this week and I commend the students involved for doing their best. NAPLAN is one form of many types of assessment that takes place in a school, and it is encouraging to see how adaptable and resilient our students are when undertaking such assessments.
In Lutheran schools, we emphasise the nurturing of all gifts and talents, and one of these areas is leadership. Our Western Hub, consisting of seven Lutheran schools in western Victoria, hosts an annual Leadership Day. This will be a camp this year. Our College will be represented by our Year 6 student leaders and they will be engaged in the four 'S's of leadership: spiritual, supportive, significant qualities and service. It is humbling as a College to contribute to building leadership capacity.
As we continue the journey in the lead-up to Easter, I pray that we would again be reminded about the loving sacrifice God made to have relationship with each one of us. I pray that the remainder of term would be smooth and that we all finish strong.
Well done on completing Week 8. Enjoy your weekend!
Mr James Phillips, College Principal
