Principal's Message (24 November, 2023)
From farewelling our oldest students last week (Year 12 Valedictory Dinner and Graduation Service) to welcoming our youngest students this week (2024 Foundation Transition Day) it has been a special week at Holy Trinity Lutheran College.
It was a memorable evening on Friday night as the Year 12s celebrated their 13 years of schooling coming to an end. The memories that were shared meant it was a night high in emotion, and it was special to see the Year 12 students staying around after the night concluded to say thank you to their teachers and soak up the last few moments of being a ‘student’.
A few days later, and it was a room filled with a different energy as our 2024 Foundation students and families entered the library for their Transition Day and parent information session. I particularly enjoyed watching the littlest of students bounding in full of excitement and energy, excited for the next adventure of their lives. The families were enthusiastically met by their teachers Miss Lienert and Miss Janetzki who welcomed the families with care and warmth. Mrs North led the parents through an informative session and answered any questions ahead of morning tea. Thanks to Mrs Przibilla, Mrs Engert and Miss Reid for making coffees and helping to prepare the morning tea.
I wish our new Foundation students and leaving Year 12 students all the best as they prepare for an exciting year ahead.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
As we prepare for the end of year, I look forward to sending my end-of-year communication out to families, outlining important details to help everyone prepare for the conclusion of the school year and the beginning of next year. This correspondence will include details about end-of-year and start-of-year dates, staffing announcements, leadership updates, school opening hours and more. Please keep an eye out for your emails for this important update.
Earlier this week I was informed of the sad passing of Mr Peter Cooke. Peter served as a groundsman at HTLC for more than 20 years and was the loving husband of Mrs June Cooke who was a dedicated and passionate teacher at the school for many years also. When I first arrived at HTLC in 2005, I quickly developed a close relationship with Peter through my role as the Sports Coordinator, especially around major events such as the sports days and cross-country. I enjoyed my chats with Pete as we went about completing the various jobs and he always found a way to get whatever was asked of him done. The funeral service will be held on Monday, 4 December at 1.30pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. On behalf of the College, I express my condolences to June and their children, Lauren and Nate. A man of faith, we take comfort in the knowledge that Peter has returned home to be with his Heavenly Father.
