Each year, 14 lucky Year 6 students have the opportunity to join on a educational and cultural tour of Hong Kong—attending classes, enjoying the sights of Hong Kong, and experiencing everyday life in Hong Kong during a brief home stay.
At the same time, the rest of the Year 6 students have a four-day trip to Melbourne using public transport to get around to visit a number of Melbourne attractions.
Hong Kong Tour
Our excited travellers had a very inconvenient start to their international tour to Hong Kong, with a seven hour flight delay before they finally took off Tuesday evening (rather than their 11am scheduled departure). What an opportunity for our students (and staff and parent helpers) to demonstrate their resilience! They arrived in Hong Kong at 2.30am local time and were chaperoned back to LSL school by our hosts. Since their arrival, the group have experienced time in both LSL primary school and LCK secondary schools and visited T-Park to learn about Hong Kong’s strategy for environmental sustainability. This weekend they are looking forward to shopping in the famous Mong Kok markets, a visit to Kowloon and the Natural History Museum, a harbour cruise, the night time sound and light show and home stays following church on Sunday morning. What an experience! We give thanks for their safe arrival and continue to pray for God’s blessings during their tour.
Year 6 Camp
Our Year 6 students congregated early Tuesday morning at the Horsham Bus Terminal to depart for the urban camp in Melbourne, as our group uses public transport for all of their transportation during their time on camp. During the week, campers enjoyed visiting Scienceworks, Bounce, a Vietnamese cultural walk, the Jewish and Islamic Museums, the Old Melbourne Goal, the Eureka Skydeck and shopping at the Queen Victoria Market. What an action packed week!
